英语演讲角（第48期）| 没有人是一座孤岛

“没有人是一座孤岛，自成一体，每个人都是大陆的一小部分；如果海水冲掉一块，世界就减小，如同一个海岬失掉一角。” 在这个世界上的你我他构成了一个休戚相关的整体。因此我们需要重视整体性，常怀一颗柔软的心，试着去理解他人，善待彼此。

2020年12月2日下午，我校品牌外语活动——英语演讲角（speakers’ corner）在孔子广场如期举行。本期主题为 “No one is an island”(没有人是一座孤岛)。来自高2019级1班的杨忠锦；4班的钟许媛；7班的谢沁颐，伍怡美，刘彦羽；11班的陈新瑜，冯雨怡；15班的胡沁月，赖天悟共9名同学参加了此次活动。

Life is precious and everyone is a part of the society. On the other hand, caring for individual values doesn’t mean egoistic individualism.

生命是宝贵的，每个人都是社会的一部分。另一方面，关心个人价值观并不意味着利己主义。

Above all, we can conclude that no one is an island. We are connected with others in thousands of ways. It is essential and meaningful for us to share the joys and sorrows of life with other friends，and keep each other company. Only in this way can we lead a happy life.

总之，没有人是一座孤岛，我们和他人有着千丝万缕的联系，只有与朋友分享喜悦与悲伤，互相陪伴，我们才能过的更加快乐。

Why is rule always necessary? Because no one lives in a single game world and you all have to deal with each other repeatedly if you are unreasonable to others, you will eventually repay yourself.

为什么规则是必需品？因为没有一个人生活在一个孤独的世界，我们都要去平等的对待他人，如果你不这样做的话，终会自尝苦果。

With friends we know we will always have a hand to hold and a heart to understand. Friends are the greatest comfort in our life.

只要有朋友，我们就确信总是有人会握住我们的手，总是会有人明白我们的心。朋友是我们生命中最大的安慰。

If you are in a bad mood, friends will warm you. If you are in a great mood, friends will share your happiness with you. No matter your mood is positive or negative, friends will always help you.

如果你心情不好，朋友的爱使你如沐春风；如果你心情不错，朋友的陪伴使你锦上添花。不管你的心情如何，朋友总是陪伴你、帮助你。

Indeed, no one is an isolated island. Therefore, we can be the individuals who shares messages from time to time because we live in the world where we cannot be separated from each other.

诚然，没有人是一个孤立的岛屿。因此，我们可以成为那些时常分享信息的个体，因为我们生活在一个不能彼此分离的世界中。

Identifying with others really matters! Please remember when someone is alone, a word from others may be the sunshine of their hope.
Look around at the people you love and the people who love you.Nothing is more delightful than a companion.

认同他人很重要！请记住，当一个人独处时，来自他人的话语也可能给他们带来希望的阳光。看看周围你所爱的人和爱你的人。没有什么比陪伴更令人愉快的了。

Therefore, here, I want to call on all parents to go back to their kids to cheer for them when they are making progress, encouraging them when they are stuck in obstacles, and listen to them when they have complaints and stand by them when they lack support.

因此，我想在此呼吁所有父母回到他们的孩子身边。孩子进步时，为他们喝彩；孩子遇挫时鼓励他们；孩子抱怨时倾听他们的心声；孩子孤立无援时支持他们。

However, as nowadays we can do whatever we want using the phone, there is less face-to-face communication between people. As a result, we become isolated individuals sharing the same living space.

然而，因为我们可以利用电话做任何事，人们之间的面对面交流少了。因此，我们成为了同一生存空间内的孤立个体。
