英语演讲角（第39期）跑之前，请先会学会走

金秋九月，桂花飘香，伴着花香阵阵，高2020级英语演讲角暨Speakers’ Corner于9月16日下午大课间时段展开了第一期活动。英语演讲角是成都外国语学校高新校区办校以来的传统经典英语特色活动，旨在培养学生自信心，锻炼英语口语能力，同时提高学生的组织能力和聆听技巧，从而达到思维批判性的日常训练目的。

本期演讲角主题为Learn to walk, before you can run (跑之前，请先学会走)，旨意让学生明白，高中学习重在一步步脚踏实地，抛去过往辉煌，从零开始，再创高峰。2020级同学们踊跃报名，把演讲角展开的如火如荼。他们分别是来自高一（1）班的张馨一同学，高一（2）班的田俊超同学，高一（3）班的袁文豪同学，高一（4）班的杨旭智同学，高一（5）的赵熠同学，以及高一（6）班的柴瑞宸同学和高一（7）班的杨子溪同学。活动由来自1班的张馨一同学主持，同学们紧张而有序，大方且从容，娓娓道来自己对演讲主题的理解和想法，赢得了大批同学的观看和掌声。

What’s your definition of success? A huge figure in bank account, or a garage which is full of Ferrari sports cars? No matter what you want, bear this in mind – high building rises from ground, and your achievement must be made of many tiny things.

大家对成功的定义是什么？银行里的大额数字或者满满一车库的法拉利跑车？无论你想要什么，都请铭记：万丈高楼从地起，一个人的成就一定源自于许多小事。

We must learn to walk before we can run. That is to say, we must master some basic skills before we are able to learn more complex things. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Just as Socrates once remarked, “to know yourself is the beginning of wisdom.”

在能奔跑之前需学会走。也就是说，在学习更加复杂的知识前，我们必须掌握一些基本的技能。不要去做自己力所不能及的事情。正如苏格拉底所说，“认识自己是智慧的开端。”

Learn to walk, before you can run. We do need to look up at the stars. But what we need most is being down to earth. Even if you will fall many times, just keep going ahead. Finally, I want to quote president Xi’s saying—aim for the highest and keep your feet on the ground.

跑之前，请先学会走。我们确实需要仰望星空，但是我们最需要做的却是脚踏实地。即使你会陨落很多次，但是继续向前坚持。最后，我想引用习主席的话- 志存高远，脚踏实地。
